What Am I?

We are a will (or desire) to receive.

The will to receive is the matter of creation.

What we feel within this matter is called "Light."

So, according to Kabbalah, I am a sort of box that keeps wanting stuff - food, sex, power, money, knowledge, rest, purpose, and on and on it goes.  I never stop wanting in this body.  If I did I would not be able to keep this body alive.

My body is built to receive.  It takes in information from its surroundings because it was built to receive sound waves, food, air, smells, visual impressions and impressions through the skin called touches.  My body is a sensing machine that takes and receives everything it needs for survival.

In contrast, there is another force or will called the "Light" or the Giver of Life.  People, plants and animals are the "receiving" force provided for by the "giving" force. Kabbalists call the latter, the force of bestowal.  Without the force of bestowal, there would not be anything to sustain us.

Kabbalists call the force of bestowal "Him" and they know that in reality THERE IS NOTHING ELSE BESIDE HIM.  But our little receiving force is not living in reality, it is living in concealment until the sixth sense develops.  Kabbalists call the sixth sense, the point in the heart and when it evolves, we will live in reality and concealment at the same time because there is now a body and a soul.  The body has limited perception.  The soul will develop into unlimited potential.  Both of these states can be simultaneous if that is what you DESIRE, otherwise you will remain confined and the Light will just be an indistinct reflection.
