Though Emma Stone is of Swedish descent, not Irish, she looked lovely in green earlier this year. I wonder if she’ll bring out this gorgeous frock for St. Patrick’s Day. Let’s take a look back at this up-and-coming style starlet’s journey this award season.
Critics Choice Awards — January 12, 2012
Right out of the gate, Stone proved she wasn’t afraid to play with color against her pale skin and burnt ember tresses, wearing a long flowing Jason Wu gown. The glowing emerald print beautifully intensified her natural coloring.
Golden Globes — January 15, 2012
For the Globes, Stone stepped up the drama by choosing a custom-made plum tulle gown with deep neckline. The Lanvin dress featured raspberry panels on the side and embroidered shoulders. The lines of this dress made it stunning.
Screen Actors Guild Awards — January 29, 2012
Who said tea length dresses were just for school dances? Stone’s SAG dress by Alexander McQueen was so unexpected, so playful — this is why she stands out on the red carpet. She always manages to do something fun and glamorous, but her genius lies in youthful styling: modern hair and makeup; shoes; and accessories.
Academy Awards — February 26, 2012
For the biggest award show of the year, Stone was a first time presenter. She walked the carpet like a pro in a Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown with Brian Atwood shoes and a Louis Vuitton handbag. Mixing red hair with a red dress on a red carpet is definitely risky, but it worked.
Some criticized the large neckline bow. I thought it was dramatic but effective since she chose a simple up-do that allowed it to shine. The play of color made her green eyes look amazing. Overall, Stone has had a tremendous debut on the award show circuit this year.
Emma always looks happy to be wearing whatever she's wearing, as though she chose it herself. I'm sure she has a stylist, but I don't get the sense that her stylist overrides Emma's sense of what works for her.
