I give Windstream’s recent efforts a thumbs up. The company is currently performing its own version of a rural telecom carrier consolidation. Up until recently, Windstream had purchased Lexcom and D&E Communications. Now it has just agreed to buy NuVox.
I like the NuVox network and business; it’s a solid one.
D&E Communications is also a another well run company. The acquisition of D&E was a good idea. Lexcom is also another well run company. Lexcom is Lexington, North Carolina's oldest and lagrest independent telephone company.
All solid acqusitions.
The only downside will be for the employees of NuVox, D&E, and Lexcom will be the layoffs.
I make no secret of my support for the rural and underserved markets. I have spoken on the subject. I see long term value in the rural markets and yes I still believe there is value in the landline business.
