In short this is good for Verizon and good for consumers.  If the reader thinks this deal justifies AT&T’s attempts to acquire T-Mobile would be incorrect.

Comcast, Time Warner, and Bight House Networks simply were not using the spectrum.  There are some professionals who believe that this deal will actually assist AT&T and T-Mobile (Deutsche Telekom’s carrier) in their merger deal.  I doubt it.  The three cable companies have not really doen anything with their spectrum – no capital investment, no network.

The AT&T/T-Mobile merger is a completely different deal.
