It is obvious the resignation of Sprint officers from the Clearwire board will trigger an event but what exactly will be triggered?

Many professionals are making educated guesses as to what will happen to Clearwire now that Sprint Chief Executive Dan Hesse and fellow executives Keith Cowan and Steven Elfman have resigned from the Clearwire board.

Some have guessed that T-Mobile will snatch up Clearwire. About year or so ago, I had predicted/hoped for a Sprint-Comcast deal. Read my blog.

Will T-Mobile acquire Clearwire? Sprint Nextel has been supporting WiMax and has hinted that it would be open to LTE. T-Mobile on the other hand has selected LTE. Yes, T-Mobile has been coy about WiMax; calling it a niche play rather than an outright rejection. Hence, Clearwire is a niche play. So what deal is in play here?

For the reasons I just laid out, I believe that T-Mobile is not going to acquire Clearwire. However, I do believe that T-Mobile is looking for a deal and it will involve one of the Clearwire partners. It could be Comcast or Sprint or both and T-Mobile may not be acquiring anyone but rather may be creating a joint venture or be acquired itself.. Why did Sprint resign from 3 of its board positions? I think the answer lies in the total Clearwire partnership.

I need to think about this more.

Whatever is happening involves more than just Clearwire.

Could be. Any fight over the future technology of the company drives directly to the real issue- the business direction of the company.

Any future for WiMax outside of 3rd world countries? If Clearwire stays with this technology won't they be the orphan child?

Is it still safe to say that WiMax has a slight advantage over LTE in deployment costs in a green field build, but LTE win's out in an upgrade? However, if you are the only kid in town than your CPE costs will be more.
