Amazon Releases Web-Based HTML5 Kindle Cloud Reader, Skirts Apple's App Store

Amazon announced this morning that it is releasing a Web-based version of its Kindle application called the Kindle Cloud Reader. The app is built from the ground up in HTML5 and is designed to be used in whatever browser environment a user desires. The initial rollout is available in Safari for iOS, Safari for Mac and Chrome. With the coming of HTML5 in all browsers (including IOS devices) Amazon has found a way to sell ebooks and side step the Apple App Store.   So, this is an interesting development in that developers have a way to play in the Apple world without Apple getting in the middle and extracting revenue.    In a Safari IOS HTML5 enabled browser, all your Google Chrome Apps will work as well.

Think about it ... my Amazon or Google purchased music, books, apps will all run on my blackberry, samsung or apple tablets.
