AllThingsD: Google Dropping Support for BlackBerry Gmail App
Google said on Tuesday that it plans to discontinue its native Gmail app for the BlackBerry as of Nov. 22.

“Over this past year, we’ve focused efforts on building a great Gmail experience in the mobile browser and will continue investing in this area,” Google said in a blog post.

Users with the app installed can continue to use it, Google said, but it won’t be supported, nor will it be available for continued download.

The move comes as Google is finally releasing a native Gmail app for the iPhone. The company released the app last week, but pulled it after discovering several bugs.

This may be an early "symptom" or Google departure - they are trying hard to alienate users by forcing everyone to use web-based client. Not sure I'm happy about it. I may consider dropping gmail (eventually) to continue using "native" platform clients like iOS mail, Outlook etc.
