M&M's To Open a U.S. Plant

CandyIt was reported today by Mars Chocalate North America that they will be building a new state of the art plant in Topeka, Kansas.  The new facility will be the first new Chocalate site build in the  U.S. in thirty-five years.

The new site was announced today by “Vice President of Supply at Mars Chocolate North America on the campus of Washburn University. We are excited to announce our plan to construct this new manufacturing site in Topeka,” said Wittman. “The site will be a reflection of our commitment to manufacture our products in the markets where we sell them. Mars looks forward to becoming an important part of the Topeka community.”

Phase I of the site will be completed in 2013 and employing over 200 people.  Later Phases may employee up to 1000.
