Closing a Tab without Deleting it?

Hello! Is there a way to close a tab without deleting it? It's wonderful that deleting a tab deletes all of it's contents for good - certainly! Yet, there are some occasions when there is a need to close, put on hold, or temporarily stop the use of a tab without while still preserving all of the contents on the tab. This is the situation I am facing for two of my current list of tabs. What options are there in these situations? Thanks! Linh

Updating the "List" function in tabUp

We are working to improve the "List" function in tabUp. In the current version we have a simple "to do" type list App. We'd like to expand this feature to allow other kinds of lists and would appreciated any feedback. 1) Assignable task list 2) Work flow - a list that requires items are checked off in a predefined order 3) Volunteer list - a list of items or time slots that group members can take ownership 4) Simple list - general list of stuff (not assigned). 5) wish or gift list Any other types of list that would be useful to you or your group?

    benchmarking opportunity

http://www.scoutlander.com/publictour/basictour003.aspx I just recently became aware of a similar offering called Scoutlander. I have not yet spend any time with Scoutlander, but wanted to make this aware to the developer pros at Tabup.com With only a quick perusal, I only see two major feature differences between Tabup and Scoutlander. 1. Scoutlander claims to offer a searchable database of 'lessosn learned' [see their Tour page #1] 2. Scoutlander claims to offer ways to track the RSVP headcount for a scheduled event, plus keep track of who has made payment for the event cost [see their Tour page #3] Again, I have registered at Scoutlander and thus have not verified these claims. This is just an FYI to the Tabup development team, as potential benchmarking ideas to strengthen an already great product.

awkward ordering of choice selections in dialog boxes

I am kinda beta-testing Tabup myself, before opting to extend invites to new potential users in two Tabup groups I am assembling [one is a Cub Scout Pack, the other is a Boy Scout troop]. I am noticing that several dialog boxes have the choice selection boxes in reverse of the intuitive order that the rest of software world has agreed upon. The two most striking examples are: Placing "No" to the left of "Yes" Placing "Cancel" to the left of "Save" The consensus of dialog box layout in the software world is "Yes" followed by "No" , and "Save" followed by "Cancel" [reading left to right] This reverse ordering is confusing. In a few days of building my test Tabup group, I have accidentally hit the wrong selection several times, plus many near misses. Please correct the ordering of your choice selections in your dialog box layouts, to conform to commonly agreed layouts.

    Ideas for Calendar

Is there any way a calendar event could have an alarm or a reminder message a week or so in advance? Another idea--it would be great if the importance assigned to an event (low, normal, high) could result in the event being of a different color on the calendar. Thanks, Jacki in Morelia, Mexico

    emails [unwanted?] to new invites

I am the Manager for my tab. After I invite someone to join our tab, but before that person decides to accept the invite - they get bombarded with ALL tab notifications [again, they haven't accepted yet, therefore they do not have Settings to turn this down]. It seems to me that someone new to seeing Tabup would have an extremely dim view of a site, where their first exposure was an invite email followed with carpet bombing of notification emails, before they've had a chance to look at Tabup and decide if it is right for them. Is there a way to turn off the notifications stream to new invites, until they decide to join and get comfortable with it?

File Sharing on tabUp -- Better Than Ever

Exchange, organize, store and TalkAbout your group’s files in tabUp’s newly enhanced File Sharing feature.   Access a text, image, video, or other type of file in a single click from a simple App on the tab Overview page.  Or, click to the full-screen of the File Sharing App to create folders for organizing group files.

Whether a group member adds a file in the full-screen of the File Sharing App or attaches a file to a TalkAbout post, the tab Organizer and members with file sharing privileges now have more flexibility to customize how a tab’s folders will meet your group’s needs.  The tab Organizer can even highlight the most important and timely folders by giving each its own App space on the tab Overview page.

To learn more about File Sharing in tabUp, go to Help > Apps > File Sharing

Posts frequently in your new tab to keep group members interested

Creating new discussions weekly will go a long way to keep your groups members checking in to your new tab. Think about it - if you only get a single email once a month how often would you check your email? The same is true with any information or collaboration tool, activity promote involvement by your group members. If you tab is public and you are looking to attract others to the discussion use the social bookmarking features like Twitter, Facebook like or Digg. In either Public or Private tabs, try attaching a picture or embedded video to give them something to TalkAbout. Look for the following symbols in the talkabout tool to attach a file, share a photo, embedded video (i.e. YouTube) or add a link to give them something to talk about.

Feel free to browser our Public tab finder and join any tab that maybe of interest.

When You Want Them to Know What You're Talking About, Blast 'Em!

Blast 'Em! Maybe most of the time your group activities aren't all that time sensitive, but this time you have something big. When word of your event or conversation has to get out right away, TalkAbout's blast feature will override members' email settings. To blast an event, you must first click on Start on the event's button in tab Overview. Then, blast the resulting TalkAbout.

Ability to direct discussion to a particular member

My members have been asking me if while we communicate and collaborate together, sometimes there are certain thoughts and questions only meant for a limited number of members - so could there be a way to limit communication and collaboration to sub-team members within a group's tab? Thanks!

Take Control Over Your tabUp Emails

Feeling a bit overwhelmed by all your tabUp emails? We’ve enhanced the tab activity notification menu – allowing emailing of just Events, Post or Replies for each tab. If you just want an email alert of new calendar events, photos, tasks, etc. than select the Events check box. If you want to see when someone starts a new discussion than select the Posts check box. These new options will let you better manage and stay in contact with your group.

We’ve also added the ability to direct emails to a primary or secondary email account. Use the Profile menu to add a secondary email if needed. The profile menu link is found next to your avatar picture on the dashboard “Edit My Profile”.

The Setting menu link can be found on your dashboard at the top of the Tab Activity section.

    Edit Nickname

When creating my first tab, the sign-on area requests "Nickname" and I thought this was referring to the group's nickname. Since using the group site and creating more than one with tabUp.com, I obviously know that it refers to the founder's nickname. How do I change the nickname to reflect the correct name? Thanks! Linh

    Added a Photo? TalkAbout it!

We've added a new feature to the Photo Viewer APP in tabUp. After you or a member of your tab has added photos using the photo manager, you can easily create a discussion when a photo is worthy of a comment. Click on the “Talkabout” text in the footer of the App to begin a new TalkAbout.

Add lots of new holiday photos to share in a secure way with just the members of your tab. There is no need to share with the whole internet when you are using a private tab in tabUp!

    Forget Email

Email will get you only so far, it’s not a collaboration tool. With our TalkAbout app, create private, content- rich discussions. Or make your tab public so everyone can join in. tabUp works like a group assistant to keep the conversation organized and in sync.

FYI I had four reminders show up in my spam folder yesterday. That never happened before. I can save the tab e-mails in my yahoo address book, that should help prevent it from happening again. We'll See. I'll let you know.

    Uploading Photos

Hey, in a previous post the answer to uploading photo's in the photo album was to click the silverlight button. But eventhough I've got silverlight, I don't find it on the photoalbum-page. So am I missing something? Or is there maybe an other way to upload photos? Thank you, Stefanie

Our Featured Group Type This Month - Keep tabs on Your Troop

Have your Boy Scout pack prepare and share on tabUp. Scoutmasters, parents, and youth leaders will find it easy to stay informed and get in contact. New Boy Scouts will have a place to check in anytime and quickly feel up to speed and a part of things.

Refer to your pack’s tab between meetings as you communicate, plan, and share adventures and community projects. Now your Boy Scout pack can have one page for everything – photos, topic-sorted discussion, announcements, deadlines, meeting dates, trip planning, forms, documents, web links, contact info., and more – no more flying emails and no webmaster skills required.

    To delete a tab

I made a new tab and accidently selected Arts and entertainment as the topic. I changed the topic in MANAGE, but all the bookmarks and other default tablets and content are the same. So I made a new tab and now want to delete the other one. How do I do that?
